The Challenge
There are currently 2.3 million children who care for, or who are impacted by the care needs of wounded, ill, or injured service members or veterans. These children’s needs are often overshadowed by their caregiving responsibilities, which can inhibit their development and have mental health consequences. Fears of stigma and being misunderstood by friends, family, and the larger community can engender feelings of isolation for children and caregivers.
The Strategy
In response, the Elizabeth Dole Foundation partnered with Nemours Children's Health to develop a series of online video training modules that provided an overview of the impact of family care giving on hidden helpers and their well-being for primary care physicians, advance practice providers, and mental health professionals.
The Execution
Working closely with key stakeholders, we produced three 30-minute training modules featuring trusted voices from the medical, veteran, and mental health communities. Each module combined expert insight with firsthand stories from hidden helpers, illustrating effective care strategies and the real impact of family care giving on their well-being.
